Introduction

IIT Roorkee has around 23 departments, more than 100 courses in each, and multiple study resources in each course. There needs to be a body to look over and manage all these files.

Although an Admin Panel already existed before, it had some significant problems —

1. Admin couldn’t view files in the database other than those to be approved.

2. There was no option for the admin to upload files on their own, but only the requested files.

3. No reported file handling system.

4. With so many files on a single page, there was no search or filtering system.

5. Table rows were redundant and lacked important information.

6. Cluttered side-nav bar.

We basically wanted to improve two key parameters through the Admin Panel —

• Gain control — We wanted to give admin all the power to manage all files.

• Good user experience — “With great power, comes great responsibility”, haha. With so many things to do as an admin, we had to make sure not to overwhelm them, and make all the Admin processes quick and easy to use.
